THE SIGNS
The Signs are conditioning energies that modify the effects of the moving planets, rather like the way the color of sunlight is changed as it passes behind the various shades of a church stained-glass window. The pure principles of the twelve Signs of the Zodiac are as follows.

ARIES: The Sun enters Aries around about the 21st March each year, heralding the beginning of the Astrological New Year. Aries therefore is concerned with INITIATING NEW ACTIVITIES. Aries must LEAD, must PIONEER and must BE FIRST in any venture. It knows NO FEAR, has LITTLE CAUTION and thinks nothing of RUSHING IN (where angels fear to tread). Aries is RESTLESS and IMPULSIVE. The Planet that has the most affinity with Aries (or in astrological terminology 'rules’ it) is MARS.
TAURUS: The Sign of Taurus is the most DOWN TO EARTH of all the Signs. Although quite STUBBORN, Taurus is nevertheless usually extremely RELIABLE, STEADFAST and LOYAL. Taurus rarely loses their temper and often is PATIENT in undertaking any practical task that involves long and prolonged HARD WORK. Taurus however loves all CREATURE COMFORTS but will go without when building for future SECURITY needs. The ruling Planet of Taurus is VENUS.
GEMINI: Gemini is the COMMUNICATOR of the Zodiac. Gemini loves nothing better than to TALK, to LEARN and to READ about many things. Known as the JACK-OF-ALL-TRADES (but master of none) the qualities of REASON, LOGIC, FACTS and FIGURES are 'food' for the Gemini spirit. Usually CLEVER and WITTY, Gemini can often make-up for a lack of emotional warmth by their BRIGHT and BREEZY approach to life. Gemini's ruling Planet is MERCURY.
CANCER: Cancerians are the naturally MATERNAL types of the Zodiac, deeply feeling the need to FEED and NURTURE others. They are SENSITIVE to CHANGING MOODS and ENVIRONMENTS and will often protect their sensitivity to a threatening world by creating a HARD SHELL of apparent toughness around themselves. INTUITIVE and often PSYCHIC, Cancerians are aware of their need for SELF PROTECTION and will therefore totally immerse themselves in HOME matters (on the principle that an individual's home is their castle). The Sign of Cancer is ruled by the MOON.
LEO: First and foremost, Leo most definitely NEEDS TO BE NOTICED. They are therefore never willingly IGNORED IN A CROWD and take a great deal of PRIDE in themselves and their opinions. Leo therefore loves to RULE THE ROOST and is hurt if it does not gain the RECOGNITION that they feel they deserve. LOYAL and WARM in affections, Leo is a BORN LEADER, hopefully having the STRENGTH OF WILL to inspire others. The planet that rules Leo is the SUN.
VIRGO: If Leo is born to rule, then Virgo is BORN TO SERVE. Humble Virgo delights in nothing more than to be HELPFUL and EFFICIENT in their SERVICE to others. Their fine ATTENTION TO DETAIL can easily turn into a NIT-PICKING FUSSINESS or WORRY if their search for perfection is frustrated, or unappreciated. Above all else, Virgo loves to ANALYSE and is drawn to most HEALTH and WORK issues. MERCURY is the ruling Planet of Virgo.
LIBRA: Libra possesses an inherent SENSE OF BALANCE and SOCIAL JUSTICE. It loves to WEIGH UP all opposing issues and is uncomfortable if asked to 'go out on a limb' or make a COMMITTED DECISION. HARMONY is the paramount need of Libra, hence the great skills of DIPLOMACY and TACT when developed wisely. Libra also loves BEAUTY, but can be LAZY when it comes to everyday chores. Libra is ruled by the planet VENUS.
SCORPIO: Scorpio is INTENSE, is deeply perceptive and is motivated by a COMPULSIVE NEED TO CONTROL POWERFUL EMOTIONS, then maybe even keep them HIDDEN and CONCEALED. Scorpio's JEALOUSY is often difficult to deal with, yet they will often BROOD IN SILENCE when hurt or in pain. DEATH has a fascination for most Scorpios in way form or another. Scorpio is ruled by the Planet PLUTO.
SAGITTARIUS: DON'T TIE ME DOWN is the plea of Sagittarius. The have an inherent and restless search for UNDERSTANDING, TRUTH and FAITH. Sagittarius loves to TRAVEL (both in mind and body) and delights in ADVENTURES OF DISCOVERY. There can be DISSIPATION OF ENERGY with Sagittarius. But on the whole this is one of the most LIKABLE of Signs. JUPITER is the ruling Planet of Sagittarius.
CAPRICORN: Capricorn is concerned with LAW, ORDER and MAINTAINING THE STATUS QUO. The most CONSERVATIVE of the twelve Signs, Capricorn believes in HARD WORK and a PATIENT DETERMINATION to get results. CAUTION and PRUDENCE can sometimes give way to a COLD and MEAN disposition. Additionally, there is a profound need to preserve the forces of JUSTICE and acting within the LETTER OF THE LAW. The ruling Planet of Capricorn is SATURN.
AQUARIUS: Aquarians are IDEALISTIC and PROGRESSIVE in their thinking. There is a great need for INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM and PERSONAL EXPRESSION yet coupled with a marked sympathy for the RIGHTS OF OTHERS. Sometimes however, Aquarian solutions to problems are not always practical or sound. Nevertheless, Aquarius is the TRUE SCIENTIST of the Zodiac, where an unbiased PURSUIT OF TRUTH is paramount. The Planetary ruler of Aquarius is URANUS.
PISCES: Pisceans have deep SOUL YEARNINGS for some form of ESCAPE from the world. They can be wholly CARING, COMPASSIONATE and GIVING to others on the one hand, whilst being totally CONFUSED and VULNERABLE on the other. Pisces has a real need to TRANSCEND the material existence and find real peace in some OTHER WORLDLINESS. Pisces will often tend to surrender self-interest for a CHOSEN CAUSE or IDEALIZED LOVED ONE. Pisces is ruled by the Planet NEPTUNE.
