THE PLANETS
Having processed all the necessary data to create an astrological Birth Chart it is now essential that we learn all the different qualities of the Planets, Signs, Houses and Aspects before attempting an interpretation.
THE PLANETS
The planets each represent a specific principle of dynamic energy that is assigned to a particular aspect of the personal psyche. In other words, each individual’s total personality is a composite of the many character traits that each planetary energy represents. For example, we have all heard our home planet being referred to as Mother Earth. This traditional concept offers clear associations of thought in our minds, imbuing the planet with certain character traits that we all know and recognize. Similarly, certain women are often referred to as Earth Mother types implying that they conform to the kind of character traits that our planet represents. This kind of correlation can be applied to all the personality traits the planets of our astrological solar system represent. These can be defined as follows.
SUN: The Sun represents our ESSENTIAL CORE IDENTITY around which the remainder of our personality revolves. It symbolizes our TRUE NATURE or INNER SPIRIT a full appreciation of which is necessary for us if a feeling of well-being and life fulfillment is to be experienced.
MOON: The Moon represents the more INSTINCTIVE, REACTIVE facet of our personality. It has more to do with the EMOTIONAL and SUBCONSCIOUS FEELINGS expressed by the Self and indicates the manner in which we RESPOND to life events. The Sign in which the Moon is found indicates the type of ENVIRONMENT we feel most comfortable with.
MERCURY: Mercury represents the manner in which we are able to COMMUNICATE with and LEARN from others. The Mercury Sign indicates the manner in which the CONSCIOUS, LOGICAL or RATIONAL mind expresses itself.
VENUS: Venus represents the way we express and receive LOVE and AFFECTION to and from others. The Venus Sign indicates the type of love expressed and the nature of the affectionate NEEDS we require for a feeling of COMFORT and HARMONY to be experienced. Venus also suggests the degree to which we can show APPRECIATION.
MARS: Mars represents the WILL IN ACTION. It is the essential DESIRE NATURE, which drives us on to participate ACTIVELY in life. It signifies the PASSIONATE NATURE and the kind of SEX DRIVE expressed. The Mars Sign also indicates the way in which our NEED TO ACHIEVE is expressed.
JUPITER: Jupiter represents our inner need for EXPANSION, both physically and spiritually. It is the That in which we place our FAITH and TRUST when seeking to better ourselves. When strongly indicated it encourages CONFIDENCE, due to an inner conviction that LUCK is on our side.
SATURN: Unlike Jupiter, Saturn represents the RESTRICTION, LIMITATION and CONTRACTION experienced in our lives. It indicates the areas where we must WORK HARDEST to succeed and where we must DISCIPLINE ourselves most. It is strongly connected with our practical urge for MATERIAL SECURITY and therefore often indicates where our greatest FEARS and UNCERTAINTIES lie.
URANUS: Uranus represents the almost rebellious need within us for FREEDOM, TRUTH and INDIVIDUALITY. It is the ego needing to express itself in an EXCITING and UNRESTRICTED manner. The Uranus Sign indicates where the URGE FOR CHANGE is most likely to be experienced. Uranus can also indicate just where our own individual GENIUS might lie.
NEPTUNE: Neptune represents the need to DETACH ourselves from worldly matters. It is an ESCAPIST need which can either lead us positively to ART, MYSTICAL or SPIRITUAL pursuits, or else can work negatively through DRUG ABUSE, ALCOHOLISM or uncontrolled SENSUALITY. The Neptune Sign suggests the kind of expression through which we can RISE ABOVE ourselves to find a greater and less tangible contentment.
PLUTO: Pluto represents the desire to CLEAR AWAY in order to BUILD ANEW. It also indicates the desire to PURGE and TRANSFORM ourselves, as well as to PENETRATE DEEPLY into the roots of things that trouble us, or we ignore. The Pluto Sign indicates just where we are capable of RISING PHOENIX-LIKE from the ashes of our lives.
