The Houses are twelve imaginary zones projected onto the Earth that correspond in nature to the twelve Signs of the Zodiac. Each represents a clearly defined channel of life expression. The twelve Houses, and the Sign of the Zodiac they have most affinity with, can be defined as follows.
st HOUSE & ASCENDANT: (Aries) The 1st House is very much concerned with the act of EXPRESSING IDENTITY. It is how we rush forth into the world, how we MAKE OUR MARK. It also can have something to say about the characteristics of our PHYSICAL BODY although this is not always so. As others most recognize us by our 1st House/Ascendant qualities, so this House is closely aligned to our PERSONA or the SURFACE PERSONALITY we present to the world.
nd HOUSE: (Taurus) The 2nd House has most to do with our MATERIAL SECURITY. It represents anything we VALUE that makes us feel PROTECTED FROM WANT. As a result, the 2nd House is predominantly linked with MONEY, POSSESSIONS and anything that can be OWNED.
rd HOUSE: (Gemini) The 3rd House is where we COMMUNICATE and LEARN. It is the House of INTELLECTUAL ENDEAVOR and represents our inherent need to STUDY, DISCOVER and EXCHANGE KNOWLEDGE with others in a REASONED and LOGICAL way.
th HOUSE: (Cancer) The 4th House is where we EXPEND OUR ENERGY ON AN EMOTIONAL LEVEL. It therefore relates to the HOME and indeed anywhere the SOUL feels able to withdraw to from the mundane pressures of life. The 4th House also has an association with PARENTAL INFLUENCES and the MEMORIES OF CHILDHOOD.
th HOUSE: (Leo) The 5th House has to do with SECURING IDENTITY. Here, we pursue activities that confirm our sense of PERSONAL VALUE. Therefore LOVE AFFAIRS, PERSONAL CREATIVITY and the PRODUCING OF CHILDREN are indicated here.
th HOUSE: (Virgo) The 6th House relates to a CLOSE EXPERIENCE OF MATERIAL MATTERS. Therefore WORK, HEALTH and all DUTIES WORDLY are indicated here, giving us insight also into our potential performance of our everyday RESPONSIBILITIES.
th HOUSE: (Libra) The 7th House represents the NEED TO RELATE. Therefore all forms of formal PARTNERSHIPS are indicated here. Often, the inclination to DEAL WITH OTHERS on a one-to-one basis is also indicated.
th HOUSE: (Scorpio) The 8th House is where we most need DEEP EMOTIONAL SECURITY. This need is often indicated by involvement with activities such as SEX, POLITICS, BIG BUSINESS, OCCULT/PSYCHIC STUDIES and all matters relating to an involvement with POWER. There is also a preoccupation with the AFTERLIFE, due to a possible deep-rooted fear of (or involvement with) DEATH.
th HOUSE: (Sagittarius) The 9th House is involved with HIGHER FORMS OF LEARNING. It indicates a PHILOSOPHICAL SEARCH FOR WHO WE REALLY ARE and quite often this 'quest' involves the undertaking of FOREIGN TRAVEL, METAPHYSICAL STUDIES or RELIGIOUS ENDEAVORS.
th HOUSE: (Capricorn) The 10th House consolidates the urge for MATERIAL ACHIEVEMENT and ADVANCEMENT. There is an AMBITION for REPUTATION, POSITION and WORLDLY/CAREER PRESTIGE. The 10th House objective is therefore to DO WELL in the eyes of the world.
th HOUSE: (Aquarius) The 11th House signifies a need for SOCIAL INTERACTION. There is an attraction to GROUP ACTIVITIES, MOVEMENTS and ORGANIZATIONS, where the individual feels the need to draw to OTHERS OF A SIMILAR MIND for purpose and expression.
th HOUSE: (Pisces) The 12th House is to do with EMOTIONAL GROWTH through LONELINESS, ISOLATION, SUFFERING or SELFLESS SERVICE. Here traumatic life experiences can enable us to discover REAL PEACE through DEVOTION TO A CAUSE, or through NON-PHYSICAL EXPERIENCES. Issues relating to the 12th House can also lead to an individual’s SELF-UNDOING due to denial.
