ASTROLOGY TODAY
Unlike earlier practitioners, contemporary astrologers no longer believe that the heavens ‘exert an influence’ on the lives of an individual on the Earth. Instead, the modern astrologer sees the astrological Birth Chart as an informative snapshot of the fluctuating tides of universal energy that were in operation at the precise moment of each person’s birth. The Birth Chart - once called a ‘Horoscope’ - is effectively an energy map of a person’s inherent personality and life potential, as defined by the energy principles of the planets, signs, houses and aspects identified at the precise time, date and place of birth. Just as we can learn to tell the time by looking at the hands and numbers on the face of a clock, so too can the competent astrologer reveal the inner aspects of our personal life potentials by looking at the symbols of energy in our astrological Birth Chart. However this is nothing to do with the outmoded notions of prediction or fortune-telling.
Many astrologers embrace the notion of ‘synastry’ – which is the correlation between energy changes in the heavens and unfolding events on the earth. The ancient axiom of ‘As above, so below’ is something of the distant past that springs to mind. Other practitioners prefer to share in Carl Jung's alleged assertion that “Anything born in a moment of time bears forever the mark of that moment in time”. Both these viewpoints are reflected in 'The Language of the Stars'.
